What size for the swap with a kernel 2.4x and 8GB RAM 662following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: I was corrected on the above, as it would seem that the size limit to the swap pertains to one swap parbreastion, and the Linux kernel can use 32 of them. Oni386- i.e. 32-bit GNU-Linux - this would mean that the kernel can access up to 64 GB worth of swap space, divided over 32 swap parbreastions of 2 GB each. Oh, so yours is an IA32-64 system running a 32-bit distribution. I've got two hyperthreaded 32-bit Xeons here. ;-) Yes. A swap parbreastion can only be used for 2 GB by a 32-bit kernel on anx86machine. You'd have to remove your swap parbreastion or resize it, and then - should you so desire - create three more 2 GB swap parbreastions. easy way to make money TURN $6 INTO $42,000 EASILY!!!FOR REAL!!! THIS IS REALLY EASY MONEY!! TRUST ME IT WORKS !!! BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT TO... Well, that says it all, but those are the sizes per swap parbreastion. If you really want 8 GB worth of swap - do you really need that? - then I would advise creating four swap parbreastions of 2 GB each. By the way, if you put two swap parbreastions on different disks, you can add a striping effect to them by giving them an equal priority. ;-) -- With kind regards, Newbie question ArintŽ You provide little information, so I'll guess at a few possible issues. Since the script works... *Aragorn* (Registered GNU-Linux user #223157)
