When Longhorn release, Linux got end. 3498When Longhorn release, Linux got end. 3499 Snip... Another drooling microsmurf, looking for a free Doze clone. They can FOAD. From we have in part: Microsoft unveiled NGSCB, formerly codenamed Palladium, in... imo I'm not entirely sure what you are saying.. but: Longhorn isn't going to kill anything. For those that want a smoother Unix experience than Linux currently has, Mac OS X Tiger has been released, and any disenchanted Linux users (all six of them) would flock to that long before any would even look at Longhorn. When Longhorn release, Linux got end. 3500 I was under the impression that the point of it was that the Longhorn 'filing system' would involve applications storing configuration, document metadata, and possibly... Linux isn't for everyone - maybe it never will be. Personally, I don't want my OS to be *too* helpful, and even at it's current status Linux sometimes does more for me automagically than I'd prefer. I don't really like an OS that makes too many decisions on its own, and keeps the decisions away from you. That's the major reason I hate (right, hate, not dislike) Windows so much: not only is the engine all proprietary and undocumented, but they weld the hood shut too.. and give you all the tools they think you should have. That g.d. "Clippy" is a great example of something I'd never want to see in Linux or Mac OS X. No matter what whizbang crapola Longhorn has whenever Microsoft swallows hard, crosses its corporate fingers and finally releases it, most linux folk aren't going to care. And if it has a major security breach a week later, we can all ROTFLAO -- Tony Lawrence
