Yes, I knew you'd try that line! Every 3D space has a 2D perspective projection...

No it does not. It persents you with pictoral clues, yes. But they have nothing...

Sorry...Microsoft "Bob" flopped. It certainly was an interesting product, but people apparently didn't find it useful.

Back in the Windows 3.1 days, I found I preferred the standard interface; It's a lot easier to organize a virtual workspace that doesn't mimic reality than it is to organize a virtual workspace that does, or even a real workspace.

Think about it; drawers are a horrible way to store things. Most implementations don't let you see inside before you open it. If the drawer has a lot of stuff in it, you frequently have to dig around before you find the item you want.

A more convenient workspace is a large surface that you attach needed items to. This could be magnets on a whiteboard, or icons on a desktop.

Multifunction tools alleviate this a little; having a menu on your PDA (or your computer application) allows you to "nest" functionality. Lessee...What appointments do I have this week? OK, get PDA from pocket. Open calender on PDA menu. Click "Week View" in the calender app.

Also, I never could figure out how to hit "Ctrl-F" while searching through the boxes in my room. A packing list might have helped, but I was never organized enough to create one.
