In what way does a "perpective shaped angled window" or a set of "rotating movie screens" represent something that "closely models real life"?!?!?!?

The things being suggested are not ones that "closely model real life;" they are instead things that probably seem pretty cool, but that you could only ever see in a computer graphical interface.

Reality is that a good map is NOT a slavish representation of the territory; it exaggerates points of interest and ignores others.

A good computer interface "majors on" the important details and does not force the user to pay attention to others that are not of interest.

I recently tried out one of the "Sims" games, discovering that it was exactly what I wouldn't consider a great amusement. It was quite "realistic" in forcing the player to put considerable effort into cleaning up after meals, scrubbing the bathroom, and using the bathroom. This is entirely irritating: the computer is entirely capable of coping with these details. It seemed extremely odd that in the one evening I spent playing the game, I spent more time making a computer simulation mop the floor than I do myself in the "real world." -- Is the surface of a planet the right place for an expanding technological civilization?
