Who exactly is this Alan Connor personI probably shouldn't get into this, but who is this Alan Connor person? He's just suggested I'm a troll and-or a spammer. See the post Network application design The original question sounds like a take-home exam question one might expect in a distributed computing clbutt like the one I took a few years ago... OT: Peter Schaffter (was: Help--cdrecord won't blank cdrws) Whoever AC is, his research turns up that I seldom post to newsgroups, and that I'm trying out knode (instead of my usual NNTP reader, slrn). On that basis, he's accusing me. If this were a moderated group, I might be inclined to ask that Mr. Connor not be allowed to post. Mr. Connor may not read this, but for the sake of anyone who does (and whose notion of finding out about a person involves more than a cursory search of a few newsgroups), I am indeed Peter Schaffter (not an imposter), author of the "mom" macroset for groff; that contribution to the GNU project alone speaks for itself and should put paid to Mr. Connor's comments. FWIW, I seldom post to newsgroups because I rarely have need. I've been an ardent Debian-GNU-Linux champion since 1996--primarily because I've had almost no problems requiring newsgroup help. -- Peter Schaffter Author of The Schumann Proof (RendezVous Press, Canada)
