Why I left Linux for Windows. 2148
On Fri, 25 Aug 2006 10:50:52 -0500, JEDIDIAH I don't quite believe either points of view as they are quite too rigid and there...

You dont like linux? Go join the club in redmond. I'll stick to my license free open source OS thank you very much.

I work as a Netowrk Admin for a web host. We host on whatever the customer would like. Windows, linux, unix, hell we'd connect a tin can and a string to the internet if the customer paid well enough. Point is, i have exposure to both sides of the fence, and i;m expected to know both, and i do, well enough to get the job done anyway.

All that being said, i'll run linux over windows any day. Our web servers speak for themselves. We need to reboot our windows servers at least once a month. Microsoft see's to that by releasing reboot manditory patches every 23 minutes or so. Out unix-linux servers on the ohter hand..... our primary DNS server is going on 600 days of uptime. Not a peep out of it. Not to mention the cost of Windows over linux. What does Wind2k3 enterprise run for now adays? 1.5k? And exchange? Not to mention the hardware requirements.

I can dig an old server out of my attic, slap RHEL on it, and it'll run for years.

Ok, enough, i just had some time to kill.

Enjoy the rest of the flames. :P
