Yawn. Or help to make Linux more widely acceptable.

Yes : a plethora of similar apps some, not all, just about working. There are few polished ones : open office, amarok just about there, emacs, k3b. Most others I find to be flakey. Note I am talking apps here : not the kernel.

No. I have many years programming experience and any code base with that ratio would be kicked out. YOu need to see the code on the screen : comments dont need debugging : code does. And you need to see it. In action. There. In front of you. Extraneous comments hinder that process.

Me too. Great OS and dekstop environment.

X is, IMO, a mess and another example of skillbase being unnecessrily diluted.

I hate KDE : I find it buggy on my HW. Dont know why. Gnome is rock solid.

There are LOADS of unstable gui apps in the repositories.

No its not. Its just an OS and some apps.

They shouldnt have to learn anything other than the basics to get the app working with which they do *real* work. Tinkering with bash is not real work for 99.9999% of PC users.

Yes, they should unpleasant woman. If its legitimate. Only that way will Linux improve.
