Why is my application memory growing 3521

I have no idea what amaroK is, but any application that uses 23M is abnormal. Heck, using a couple of meg is abnormal. A ps auxm here shows me only mozilla using 71M VSS. About 59M is shared with other instances. Most other things have a few hundred KB resident, and a couple of Meg VSS in total.

Then you ought to. Any application using up tens of Meg is abnormal. There should be only a couple of them. Here X is running:

which is prestty hefty with all those fonts too, but the VSS is 37M, not 218M! My top few memory users are:

(obviously different mozilla threads).

Because fonts can take a lot of memory.

What would you be looking for? Just use fewer and see if any difference is noticable.

Does it add up? I don't see that it would.
