Why is my application memory growing 3522Why is my application memory growing 3523 Noah Roberts I have quite a lot of large ones... PID PPID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM CTIME COMMAND 5041 5036 jdbeyer 15... Thankyou, that was at the back of my mind. The machine has a 128Meg nvidia card so that goes some way to explaining things (and I have a well-behaving machine at home which does just as you say with a 256Mb GFX card) but these values are still silly: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ SWAP COMMAND 11452 raac 16 0 218m 23m 187m S 0.0 2.3 0:04.30 195m amarokapp 9323 root 15 0 311m 159m 152m S 3.0 15.9 20:42.77 151m X AND I can see the performance falling off if the machine has been up for over a day. That indicates, if further indication were needed, that this memory situation isn't normal. I was wondering if the NVIDIA driver is to blame since the latest one complained that my kernel wasnt't up to date. However, I've tried running under nv and things are still bad. I'm currently running an older nvidia driver which doesn't complain about my kernel not being at least 2.6.11. This hasn't helped either. As far as fonts are concerned. I'm not running very many and no more than I am at home. Less in fact. So not sure about that being the cause. I have also tried closing all undeeded apps in KDE. That doesn't help either. X starts sucking up memory from the word go, so I don't think it's an issue with KDE. Why is my application memory growing 3524 Jean-David Beyer So do I. PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 3786... -- remove ferret to reply
