I'm trying to be compbuttionate here, rather than go off on my usual rant about the possibility of anti-Linux trolls posting from the Microsoft

I think it is just too easy sometimes for the Windows user to bypbutt that initial spark which says "Maybe I can figure this out myself". That's because Windows doesn't give the new user that opinion, perhaps.

It is a very easy shift from a question "Humm, I wonder why my CD Recorder won't play" to posting on a news group a message like "HELP! CD is Dead and it's all Linus's Fault!!!!" ---- instead of going to the super user mode and making sure fstab entries for the cd match what the device inventory says it is. I know -- I had this problem when I first set up FC3 and sent a hysterical message to the c.o.l.h group. Well, maybe not blaming Linus for everything, but pretty peeed off that I couldn't

Anyway, m2cw ... and my advice for the original poster, read these runes and do some thinking before posting -- and I mean that in the nicest and most respectful manner possible, please forgive if it sounds harsh.

CHeers,

Dave
