Your choice of filesystems depend on the following:

1. OS(s) you are using. Choose a native filesystem for your OS(s). 2. If using multiple OSs, there are two options: dual booting or using virtualization. Virtualization is more complicated, but the most flexible. 3. What features do you want in your filesystem (journalling, ACLs, etc.)

FAT32... People sometimes recommend a simple and quick fix to provide a compatible filesystem which can be used R-W by both OSs in dual boot environment. They often recommend the FAT32 filesystem because GNU-Linux knows how to write to the parbreastion. I prefer not to use this quick fix.

Virtualization... IMO, virtualization is a better solution than dual boot. It is more flexible and allows each OS to be setup in a normal way, using the best features available for the OS. For example, IMO, NTFS is the superior Windows filesystem (from a technical standpoint.) YMMV.

chkrootkit finding 2 infected files
hello NG, i have two SuSE Linux 9.2 machines behaving strange. I booted with Knoppix 3.7 and started chkrootkit 0.43. This finds two infected files, find and...

Compatible file transfers... In virtual environments, files are transferred between the host and guest using a virtual network interface. The native filesystem drivers are used because the native OS is running (either natively or by emulation.) The result is very slick and easy.
