Winmonitors are here! 1788On Wednesday 05 July 2006 00:08, Yugo stood up and spoke the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: What part of "GNU-Linux does not have any economical motives" is it that you don't understand exactly? GNU-Linux is developed for technical reasons - i.e. to be the best and most scalable platform out there - and partly for political reasons - Free & Open Source Software as an alternative to proprietary software. As a sidenote, with GNU-Linux running on mainframes, professional workstations and servers, did you really think "the desktop" is so important to anyone? Desktop computers only make up for a small part of the computer systems worldwide. The word "thinko" has the same kind of meaning as the word "typo". It means you've made a thinking error. It was not intended as namecalling. I used that word to denote that you obviously have a totally erroneous view of what GNU-Linux is about. You mention having used Windows 95 in the past, so it actually doesn't surprise me that you still think in Microsoft terms, i.e. your views of information technology are centered around the commodity home and office personal computer, and your concept of ideology is unable to expand beyond economical incentives. Greater than 1371 Bytes Output Hangs Session From home, I use putty to ssh into a server at work running Red Hat Linux release 7.2. Commands that display a small amount of output work fine but if I send... As for being "bright" or not, I'd try very hard not to berate me over my intelligence if I were you. As I have mentioned elsewhere already on quite a few occasions - not that you are supposed to read everything that I write but if I keep saying the same thing for too many times, it tends to bore people - I'm afflicted with Asperger's Syndrome. Related or not to this affliction, I have an IQ quite well-above average. Winmonitors are here! 1789 Marten Kemp I'm not sure that replacing "ordinary" servers with a mainframe is their (IBM's) real goal. IBM mainframe customers have literally billions of... But anyway, at least I *do* know what Free & Open Source Software is all about. Read and weep...: -- With kind regards, *Aragorn* (Registered GNU-Linux user #223157)
