Wolfpack Trolling 3888Wolfpack Trolling 3889 In the Usenet newsgroup comp.os.linux.misc, in article My secondary ISP end off their own news server and went... Snip... Yes--my local provider went to Supernews from inhouse service a few months ago, largely IIRC to let somebody else worry with the spewbots and such. ISTR Seth Breidbart years ago arguing sooner or later, something like that was going to have to happen for Usenet to continue being useful to anybody except the howling netkooks. IMO it's not so critical now that there are websites, blogs, forums, etc. But for much of the F-OSS tech community, Usenet is still a valuable means of exchanging information. Apparently, the Fanboys want it shut down, as a matter of getting more FUD per "marketing" (xlate: propaganda) dollar. The Linux groups seem especially to bother them, as (for now) Linux appears to be the most potent threat to the entrenched M$ worldwide monopoly. Yes; I read alt.os.linux.suse as well, and for time a couple of months ago they seemed to be very active there, also. Same here--as I said, I have my faves (as Flatfish-etc.) and anything that points to M$ in the headers. It cut my fog by at least half. As to missing M$ "converts" I'll let the religious "save" them. :) IMO 99+% of M$ on the net is pestilence, to be fixed or eliminated. Now. I certainly will not have net pests on any network segment I control. Ever. -- Regards, Weird (Harold Stevens) * IMPORTANT EMAIL INFO FOLLOWS * Pardon any bogus email addresses (wookie) in place for spambots. Really, it's (wyrd) at airmail, dotted with net. DO NOT SPAM IT. Kids jumping ship? Looking to hire an old-school type? Email me.
