Floyd L. Davidson Okay, okay, okay. I'm the OP ... and I've really lost track of who said what in response...

I have a situation where after using the computer anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours the X server will simply freeze. Everything stops, except I can still listen to music if I had music playing. The mouse is locked; the keyboard is locked.

The closest line in any of my logs that describes anything of interest seems to be this one found invar-log-messages.

It greatly depends on what your clients will be doing with the t1. If you're talking about general web surfing, you can get a *lot* from a t1. One of the offices for which...

gdm4333: gdmslavexioerrorhandler: bane X error - Restarting :0

I am running Fedora Core 3, and this has happened on two off-the-web kernels (kernel-2.6.9-1.681FC3 and kernel-2.6.10-1.760FC3). I have another Fedora Core 3 machine that runs, has the same version of gdm, the same version of the xorg-x11 packages, and runs the same kernel, but does not have this locking problem.

I have a GeForce4 graphics card, and I'm running the "nv" driver. The other machine was running the "nv" driver (I have since installed NVidia's Linux driver), and when it was running the "nv" driver, it still never had any such X freeze.

What could be unique about this machine that causes these X freezes? I've checked the Google Groups archive and haven't seen much to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the time,

Jeff
