X no acceptable refreshI am hoping someone has a similar setup because I am at a bit of a loss. Installed latest Gentoo and I can't get xorg to work. I've tried xorgconfig with several different options but none of them work. It goes through and says the hardware only supports a particular resolution and refresh rate and never picks that rate. The card is an Intel 82815 CGC Subsys: Gateway 2000. The monitor is a samsung 17" lcd. HP LaserJet 4P won't print grayscale Greetings. Our HP LaserJet 4P works great for black-and-white text and line art, but won't print anything in... It wants to do 1280x1024 (or whatever - not at hand at the moment) at 60 Hz. It has a few others. Want a PCI DSL card Cal Lidderdale I say to go with the telco-supplied dsl modem. I have not run DSL, but I do run... In the list of resolutions and rates that the server tries these don't show up. Xorg.0.log is where I am getting my info. xorgconf doesn't work either...it won't start up...the server boots out complaining about no screens, just like it does post configuration. I've never had this much trouble before. When gentoo tried to use a graphical installer the server stayed up but all it was was a bunch of colorful lines. I can't even get that. I realize this is rather sparse information but still, does anyone have any ideas?
