Xinerama on different resolutions on ATI

Is it at all possible to get spanning desktops on two displays with ATI displays?

I have a Dell Labreastude D810 with ATI Mobility X600 graphics card and I am totally unable to get this to work. I can get two separate desktops, but this is not good enough. I want to be able to move windows between the screens.

I have given up using the fglrx drivers, but I do not have any success with the xorg ati drivers either.

Since I have had about 300 different versions xorg.conf, I don't see any use in posting my current version here.

I have made Monitor, Device and Screen sections for both my monitors that I am pretty sure is correct.

I need any tips of how I can get this working. I am about to give up dual head and use only my Dell 2001FP at work and the laptop screen while on the road. But it seems like such a waste to only use one monitor when I have two.
