adding files to the knoppix cd 4940can't boot up. There's a message about a missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe file non-windows solution. I am trying out the latter. adding files to the knoppix cd 4941 So far, I haven't actually seen you mention what relevant resources you have available. I can deduce that you have access to a working computer, and guess that it's your... Until now I was in a hurry, it was, like, an emergency kinda thing, so even though the remastering knoppix page was great, it dealt with adding a number of files-packages-other stuff etc that you want to put into knoppix - which i don't really want to do. Coz i just want to put 1 file into it which is this ntoskrnl.exe file. So i thought i'd try out the steps above - that didnt work though, i mean i tried the -b and -c args for mkisofs and all but ...aw shucks. then i remembered that even knoppix (atleast the version i have) doesn't have ntfs write support so instead of remastering it with a download of a captive driver, i thought I'd use the ubcd approach coz that has it already. However, methinks that ubcd "uses" the current ntoskrnl.exe and ntfs.exe files that are in the windows parbreastion to do its stuff, because i noticed it in the ramdisk. So how would ubcd work if that file's broke? I thought. Am i thinking right? Is my buttumption that a windows comp with a broken ntoskrnl.exe file can't be fixed with captive-insert-ubcd because it depends on it? adding files to the knoppix cd 4942 Hi, I'm sorry that I haven't mentioned any resources available to me. Well here goes; I have this problem with the ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupted occuring on... findind max number of processes systemwide of processes Count the entries in your process table when you hit a limit. As to whether the size of the process table can... So here i am, well now i have more time as it aint an emergency no more. Any replies would be appreciated :) Thanks! d
