adding files to the knoppix cd 4942Hi, I'm sorry that I haven't mentioned any resources available to me. Well here goes; findind max number of processes systemwide of processes Count the entries in your process table when you hit a limit. As to whether the size of the... Mandrake 10.2 video on Toshiba M55 laptop help I have been trying for some time now to get linux on my Toshiba M55 laptop. I have tried nearly all of the mainstream distros with no success. I... I have this problem with the ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupted occuring on a friend's laptop overseas;) It is not visible to me in front of my eyes but I do see a lot of identical problems on the web with other people whose computer's can't boot bcoz of it. I have a working desktop with linux and a working laptop with windows. I also have knoppix and an UBCD with captive-ntfs ability to write to ntfs. So, really i cannot do a drive swap on my own, but sure, i can suggest it. Only prob is that my friend just has this one computer and its a laptop. So I decided to fix him up a bootable rescue cd "also" containing his missing culprit file and then mailing him the masterpiece. I decided to create the cd on my linux desktop, test it on my windows 2K laptop with ntfs. He doesn't have any bios problems, has win2k and has 1 internal cd drive + 1 external cdrw drive but no floppy drive. I was thinking that I can test my cd by booting my windows laptop with it and then writing a file onto it. * Now I can do that with UBCD, because I tried it out. The captive-ntfs filesystem gets mounted rw and I can create a dummy file onto the windows parbreastion,,, But! I haven't been able to make the "another" bootable ubcd cd as yet - one which would also contain the file that he can use to replace his bad file) I would think that I basically need to know how to do this.. I hope thats what I should know :) cheers :)
