can't add user to group FC5: user private groupsquestion about using jpegtran for lossless compression of jpegs first of all, sorry for the cross-posting, but I am not sure where to go for help with this... I have been using a freeware windows application... This is an interesting point you raise. In many tech circles it's considered rude and newbiesh to quote things in full. I've actually participated in mailing lists and newsgroups where people are criticized for quoting too much. comments can be repebreastive and confusing especially when several people are participating in a thread. it's easy to lose track of who said what. Some quoting is necessary (I agree), but the google groups interface is already adequate for displaying the context of threaded comments. Too much quoting can make it hard to see the new thing that has been said-asked. That interferes with readability. Also, I've noticed that by the time people start overquoting (interleaving comments with comments to the comments), the discussion has almost always devolved into anarchy and flamewars. The problem is that some google groups store mailing lists, so in fact a reader may not be viewing the threaded discussion on google groups or even a newsreader, but whatever goes into their email. My only point is to say that failure to quote is NOT always a newbie thing; it may indicate stylistic preferences or a desire to improve a discussion's readability. Anyway, I've talked too much about it. Once again, Thanks for your help!!! Robert Nagle
