can't get htaccess in Apache to workThis is driving me nuts. No matter what I do, what changes I make in httpd.conf, how I make .htaccess, I can't get directory security to work. I have folder:var-www-html-msa In it I have the file .htaccess which contains: AuthUserFilevar-www-html-msa-htpbuttwd AuthName "Enter Pbuttword" require valid-user AuthType Basic Satisfy any To create the htpbuttwd file, from the command prompt in the folder I did: hardware graphics acceleration 3068 Me Hello, and browse down to Fedora block. Follow the links to FC3 installation notes and guides. -------------------------------------------------- Beneath is my own success installment: 1) Download NVIDIA driver from Read the INSTALL and README files. --------------------------------------------------- Logoff... $ htpbuttwd -c .-htpbuttwd username I put the pbuttword in twice as prompted. I Web browse to that dir, and I don't get challenged for a pbuttword. section, but they are in this order) Options FollowSymLinks #AllowOverride AuthConfig AllowOverride None Options Indexes FollowSymLinks folder AllowOverride AuthConfig Order allow, deny Allow from all AccessFileName .htaccess Order allow, deny Deny from all Satisfy All I can't find any other sections that might be related. At this point, I can't even remember all the different ways I've tried editing these lines. And only two results will occur: No change and I can access the directory in question unchallenged, or I'm not allowed to access ANY folder. Any suggestions what in the world I'm doing wrong? hardware graphics acceleration 3067 On Sun, 27 Feb 2005 20:08:06 GMT, Mark Hobley staggered into the Black Sun and said: Point 1 is true; point 2... Thanks! Liam
