cant accses redirect link's with redhat+ mozilla, help plzWhen replying to a newsgroup posting, it is customary to quote the relevant part of the message to give some context for the discussion. The problem was that the OP didn't get any response to not resolvable through DNS. Then there's a difference between the DNS settings in Windows and those used by Red Hat. Is the Windows box on the same (local) LAN as the URL in question? Or does the Windows box have an entry in the hosts file (not sure where it's found on Windows) for the system in question? Or does the Windows box use a different DNS server (perhaps a private one that has correct entries for the system in question) than the Linux box? It would appear that there's a difference in the DNS settings for the two boxes. Try looking up the host name on the Linux box using 'dig'. (If there's a Windows way to do DNS lookups on the command line, use that, too, and compare the output of the two.) Doing a DNS lookup (with dig) from here, there is no answer. Without that, there's no way to access that host by that name. If you know the system's IP address try that instead (e.g. java not running without an absolute path hi, my system is in linux enterprise 3.0. i have installed the java self-extract java package... A simple power failure would *not* account for the lack of a response for the DNS query. Moreover, the DNS servers listed for that domain are ns1.http.co.il and ns2.http.co.il, but neither of those are resolvable either. Redhat linux AS vs ES Muk I doubt Red Hat could be bothered maintaining two different compilations and run-time-libraries. But we might find out. These are the latest in RHEL 3 ES. Run the same on... java not running without an absolute path Black Sun and said: Your last sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Think of it this way: There are certain Java programs that... IOW, DNS for the entire nm7.net domain appears to be broken. Fix it.
