cdrecord problem 7257
On Mon, 19 Dec 2005 21:20:17 +0100, Drazen Gemic staggered into the Black Sun and said...

This is how the CD copy (write) session looks like:

-------------------------------------------------------------------- cdrecord -dummy driveropts=burnproof dev=ATAPI:1,0,0 speed=24 -nofix -tsize=638011392 -data - cdrecord: No write mode specified. cdrecord: Asuming -tao mode. cdrecord: Future versions of cdrecord may have different drive dependent defaults. cdrecord: Continuing in 5 seconds... scsidev: 'ATAPI:1,0,0' devname: 'ATAPI' scsibus: 1 target: 0 lun: 0 Use of ATA is preferred over ATAPI. Warning: Using ATA Packet interface. Warning: The related Linux kernel interface code seems to be unmaintained. Warning: There is absolutely NO DMA, operations thus are slow. Schilling Note: This version is an unofficial (modified) version with DVD support Note: and therefore may have bugs that are not present in the original. Note: Please send bug reports or support requests to Note: The author of cdrecord should not be bothered with problems in this version. Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'. Device type : Removable CD-ROM Version : 0 Response Format: 2 Capabilities : Vendorinfo : 'ASUS ' Identifikation : 'DRW-1608P ' Revision : '1.02' Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-R-DVD-RW. Using generic SCSI-3-mmc CD-R-CD-RW driver (mmccdr). Driver flags : MMC-3 SWABAUDIO BURNFREE Supported modes: TAO PACKET SAO SAO-R96P SAO-R96R RAW-R16 RAW-R96P RAW-R96R Speed set to 705 KB-s Starting to write CD-DVD at speed 4.0 in dummy TAO mode for single session. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that DMA is on:

---------------------- hdparm -ddev-hdc

dev-hdc: usingdma = 1 (on) -----------------------

This on on FC4 with 2.6.11 kernel. The same problem I had on the same machine with 2.4.26 kernel and RH9.0. I even compileded original Schily cdrecord, but there was no difference.
