cdromdvd symlinks strange after udev upgrade. Keywords: udev, cdrom, dvd, symlinksI've just upgraded my kernel from 2.6.12. to 2.6.15 (Debian releases). In doing so, I now find udev managing mydev. Previously I used devfs. Upon rebooting into the new kernel, the symlinks fordev-cdrom,dev-cdrw,dev-dvd anddev-dvdrw all point todev-vcc-a7 # ldev-dvd*dev-cdromdev-cdrw The drives in question are both ATAPI drives, and appear to have correctdev-hdcd symlinks: # ldev-hdcdev-hdd (the first (hdc) is a cd-rewriter, the second (hdd) a dvd-rewriter). Some background: Previously, I used SCSI emulation for the two drives, by using image=-boot-vmlinuz label=Linux initrd=-boot-initrd.img append="hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi devfs=mount" read-only inetc-lilo.conf. Prior to upgrading my kernel, I removed the "append" line, as I understand now that using SCSI emulation is not supported anymore (or at least deprecated); I also made sure to re-run lilo. Could anyone help explain what's going on here? How can I fix things so that mydev-cd* anddev-dvd* symlinks point to the correct devices? Please Help! system crashes only when booting to updated kernel Hi, I have never had to go to the extreme of posting on Usenet to solve a problem, but I have been struggling with this for weeks, and no other posts have... -- What part of "Phnglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!" dont you understand?
