cdrecord problem 7256
Robert M. Riches Jr. This is how the CD copy (write) session looks like: -------------------------------------------------------------------- cdrecord -dummy driveropts=burnproof dev=ATAPI:1,0,0 speed=24 -nofix -tsize=638011392 -data - cdrecord: No write mode specified. cdrecord: Asuming -tao...

To see the parbreastion table expressed in sectors, use fdisk -ul. I am not sure that all Windows disk actually use the standard parbreastion table, I have a suspiction about "dynamic volumes".

Provided the SATA disk has at least as many sectors as the highest-numbered sector pertaining to any parbreastion on the IDE,

The option conv=noerror, sync is just in case there are errors, to have dd continue. The final part of the line is to log any error reports on to a file, so they don't scroll off the screen and get lost.

The bs=1M part is just to use input and output buffers of 1024x1024 bytes each. The final block may be smaller, which is not a problem. The finishing message from dd will report something like 80000+49664 meaning the final block was only 49664 bytes.

The device names, hda and hde are just my guesses, subsbreastute the correct ones.

If the SATA disk is a little smaller than required, you may want to shrink a parbreastion on the IDE. If you can fix it by shrinking the last parbreastion, it is easier. If you need to shrink several parbreastions, or any parbreastion other than the first, the most natural thing to do is probably to create the corresponding parbreastions on the SATA, then use dd to copy each parbreastion, one at the time.
