Nope that's not it... some directories contain over 100+ images that print without any problems. As you've correctly observed some are faxes, and 50+ page faxes print without problems also. (always using the same command...)

In any case I have been looking into this in a little more detail and the individual files didn't print either (ie pbutting the single file as an argument)... This only happens with SOME files created by a scanner, NEVER the received faxes, or other jpegs.

I've looked at my logs andvar-cups-errorlog says something about incompatible file format. I butture you the jpg is perfectly OK (I can open it and print it from a windows machine using samba, on the same printer)

I don't know if it has something to do with the file format returned by my scanner in some circumstances or something. Maybe it's a bug in cups???

What I've done for now is modified my scripts to temporarily copy the files from the directory to a subdirectory intmp, use ImageMagick's "convert" to convert them to a standard width (1600 pixels wide), print them and then delete the converted files. Guess what... all files print perfectly. The only problem is of course that sometimes it takes ages... and in my company we often need to print out 100 or even more pages in a hurry. Depending on the files it can take AGES for printing to start.

If anyone has any more suggestions they'd be really appreciated!!

Thanks.

While I run Mandrake, and thus have no idea if that lpoptions is a Mandriva special, I would doubt it. It is a way of converting ps files to other...
