Dances With Crows You're onto something. But for some reason enabling dma does not work:

Running as root:

I'm running 2.6.17-1.2187FC5 that ati driver wanted.

cpufreqd is not running

The only usb problem is with the Turtle Beach Roadie. Someone mentioned earlier that the card can do 48khz only. I think that should be fine at least for dvd audio tracks. I might live without aplay and mpg123-321.

Someone at TB must've had a kick out of naming that one.

Got the gentoo livecd burned but need to sort out the cooling for the new system. According to the hw monitor in bios cpu temp gets above 68 plus 1C and system temp above 55c after running memtest86 for a few hours. Then the box shuts off. Silverstone NT01 cooler goes back where I bought it from :-(

findproc -name i2c does not show any files I could poke in to see cpu-system temperatures. Is there some module that needs to be insmoded?
