dual processors and linux 1774dual processors and linux 1775 Cybrid I am not sure what the question is that you are trying to answer. The memory manager keeps a separate stack for... Jean-David Beyer I've been 'out-of-the-loop' for a little while, so bear with me please; AMD and Intel architecture are quite different, especially in the area of the Memory Controller, and what we usedto call the FSB (System Bus), which AMD dubs the HTT Bus (Hyper-Transport Technology) and which Intel dubs the MCH-GMCH (Graphics-Memory Controller Hub) -- and I still refer to it as FSB most times too ;-) It's just tricky to maintain those mnemonics-monikers when speaking to others, especially when discussing Newer Motherboard BIOS settings. -- see this PDF; Clearly AMD64 has the better architecture (IMHO), as far as the HTT Bus and the OnDie Mem controller are concerned - but Intel CPUs have those long pipes (L3Cache). The thing I'm not too happy about with AMD64 Opterons is the way they 'elude' to 3 *separate* HTT links (between the CPUs), when in fact, there's only 1 physical in the 265+ DualCore units, but the 865+ certainly have ALL 3 physical links. IIIRC, the other (2) links in the 265+ are only logical links, if that. Man - I need to brush up on my 'recent' hardware knowledge ;-) Regards
