Nedavno Keith Keller pise:

I don't know that there's general consensus, but my personal opinion is that a post that only says "Thank you" is pointless. I think it's best to followup, thank the poster, and explain what you did and how it solved your problem. This may be as simple as "I did exactly what you suggested, and it worked", or may be as complex as "I did some of what you suggested, modifying it this way, found some links (here they are), did some more stuff, and finally solved the problem this way." The thank you is to encourage more suggestions in the future; the explanation is to help others who might be searching google with a similar problem. As someone already wrote, if you received and acted upon multiple suggestions, you should summarize what you did in one post, rather than following up to every person who posted. If you feel it appropriate, you can mention those other posters by name if they made a particularly helpful contribution. Finally, since Alan will never post anything helpful, it's never appropriate to post a thank you to him. ;-)

This sounds reasonable. As I wrote, I was wondering if I should followup thanking for any help. I am gonig to do as you wrote from now on.
