gpm kills mouse function in kernel 2.4 puzzlingntfs support Ivan Some 2.4 kernels have the read-only NTFS driver, but not all. A kernel upgrade is strongly advisable considering... What's this connection It's not really established, because it's not really a connection. The original question was about: Notice the "udp". There are no connections in UDP. netstat is overloading the word... Need vacationautoresponder software Greetings. I'm looking for a vacation-style autoresponder program which has the following features: 0. Runs on a GNU-Linux with local mail spool... gpm? gpm is used on the text console. It should probably not be used in X. gpm should be asleep ("in graphic mode, gpm sleeps") when in X but ... gpm is not too smart when choosing the protocol (try "gpm -t help" for the types). Then again, I had an IBM mouse (PS2) which was dicey to initialize. Starting the system, using imps2 (I had to use ps2) as the type would leave me with a frozen mouse when I would start the computer and use gpm in text mode. I would kill gpm and run X and later come back to the text console. Then using ps2 would leave me with a frozen mouse, but imps2 would work. On a Windows machine, one third of the time the mouse would not initialize and I would have to reboot to get it working. Apparently X was able to initialize it as imps2 but gpm could not (but once it was initialized it had to be run as imps2) (so I had two scripts to start-stop the mouse - one if I had started the machine, I turn it off when I go to be at night, but not run X yet and the other). man gpm: The gpm server may have problems interacting with X: if your mouse is a single-open device ... you should kill gpm before starting X, ... ... While the current console is in graphic mode, gpm sleeps until text mode is back So, gpm should be "asleep" when in graphics mode. I usually kill it instead just to be "sure."
