growisofs doesn't obey speed option

When I record a dvd disc, growisofs ignores the speed I say in the -speed option, it always sets the maximum speed for the disc. This is a problem with 16X discs, as for an unknown reason my systems seems that is not able to transfer data at such speed.

This problem happens with two differents dvd recorders, an internal one and an external one.

This is what dvd+rw-mediainfo says:

INQUIRY: HL-DT-STDVDRRW GSA-2164D1.01 GET CURRENT CONFIGURATION: Mounted Media: 11h, DVD-R Sequential Current Write Speed: 8.0x1385=11080KB-s Write Speed #0: 8.0x1385=11080KB-s Write Speed #1: 4.0x1385=5540KB-s

According to this, there are two available speeds: 4X and 8X

Well now I try to record the disc at 4X with k3b, but... this is what growisofs says:

dev-sr0: "Current Write Speed" is 8.2x1385KBps.

And the disc is actually recorded at 8X.

Why doesn't growisofs record the disc at the speed I say?

Pay attention to -speed=4, so k3b is really pbutting the speed I selected.

I'm using SuSE 9.2, kernel 2.6.8-24-default, k3b 0.11.22cvs, dvd+rw-tools 5.21.4.10.8-5.

I tried dvd+rw-tools 6.1 but that version doesn't even start to record, it says:

umount:media-grabadoraexterna is not in fstab (and you are not root)

media-grabadoraexterna is a symbolic link, which is automatically created whenever I plug in the external recorder, that points todev-sr0. And I don't know if I really have to put something inetc-fstab, as the device is already mounted-unmounted automatically when I plug or unplug it.
