help in doing some changes in my systemWhat is Linux built with or, what does this question mean On Friday 06 October 2006 09:08, CharlesBlackstone stood up and addressed the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.miscas follows...: I have seen very clear answers to your query, but you seem not to understand... Ok New kernel and looks like it's ok now... I didn't test all devices yet, some of the programs must be configured as they wore pointing todev-dsp and there is nodev-dsp now. It even looks like the system is a little bit more faster, or it could be just me looking at a new toy :) But i've bumped into a situation there i've seen before and never understand why this appens: I have a video capture card that also do tv tuner. This card has a little sound device that i've connected to my SBLive with a little cable (line out to line in)... The previous kernel put this card to work fine, but it never put any extra sound device on the system. creates a new sound device... The stupid part of this is: why linux allways puts a secundary sound device in 1st place? I've seen this before with webcams that have integrated microphones... you boot the system with a camera connected and there is no sound, because the system puts the microphone as the primary device. I've been pbutting this problem by removing the module that activates de sound device, but this sucks :( In my case now, i can reconfigure arts and sound programs to the correct device, but what about when the device is external and it is not allways connected? We can not be reconfiguring things avery time we connect-disconnect a extra sound device. And removing the module, we are in fact desabling the use of the microphone. Any coments on this? Anyway, i wanna thank to John Stewart and Michael Heiming for helping me understand what i was not understanding. Thanks a lot guys ArameFarpado
