Other than using the source packages...the only package manager that ive used is the rpm because I use FC3..By going what you say about package managers I'll go through the man pages to use options which show what files are being used.....
According to me...especially because Im a newbie...and for newbies like me..installing from source packages provides more information as everything has to be done manually and that provides for a lot of information....
And what does `cp -alusrusr-old` . You were having a word with Grant about it....
