I suppose you could have left out a comma, be using a nickname, or something similar which isn't helpful. Are you an old hand doing this, or are you just starting out? If you're an old hand, then say what you mean. If you're just starting out, then try to pinpoint your question as best as you can. The first step is to decide which distribution you want to try, then review the available setup documentation for that distribution. Both Suse and Slackware have plenty of documentation which explains setup options, but they are two separate distros. Systemusers andgroups I know this sounds like a newbie-question, but what does the various system-users and... Be aware that you may not need to burn any discs if you can get the setup files you need on your computer in advance. One way to get the setup files you need is to use your knoppix cd. Boot it, then retrieve the required files using the network (saving to some free space on another hard disc parbreastion.) This may be slightly more difficult than starting from a physical disc, but it's possible. -- Douglas Mayne
