how to compare md5hashes from 3 hashlistfilesOn Fri, 15 Apr 2005 17:12:43 +0200, Peter T. Breuer staggered into the Black Sun and said: The OP's English isn't the greatest, as his many previous posts make clear. I believe he has 3 files like so: # file 1 textline 1 same line # end file 1 # file 2 textline 2 same line # end file 2 # file 3 textline 3 same line # end file 3 ...so I *think* he wants to look at all the lines in all the files that differ. If my analysis is correct, diff3 is the tool he needs. "info diff3" for the full scoop; that utility's man page is not that helpful. startx verbose output On 15 Apr 2005 09:45:51 -0700, carol staggered into the Black Sun and said: Which version of X? Which graphics card are you using... join only works on 2 files at once. I wouldn't use md5sum --check either, since that can take a long time if the files you're checking are large, and it's obvious that md5sum's already been run on the files. I don't understand why there are 3 files, but there is no "diff4" AFAICT, so if the OP wants to expand this scheme to 4 machines or repositories, he'll have to approach the problem a different way.
