install problemHey there, I am new to Linux, tried a few, even bought two Suse Distributions, never satisfied with the result... Now I have a urgent problem, because I need a LinuxUnix System to practice. I have a PC with the following HW: Asus MBO P5AD2 Premium, Marvell Yukon GBit LAN, WLAN, Sound, but disabled, SATA Creative SB Live Platinum PCI (using this one, the oldest Live Card) Geforce 6600 GT pcie Hauppauge WinTV PCI (even very old) 3x SATA Samsung Spinpoint Linux Enterprise Edition AS 3.0 3700 Actually, that is incorrect. The GPL is about free software. The GPL existed before the... Now, here is the Problem: I recently tried 5', maybe it was '185','message repeated 30 times' input, never logged in... far, aborted install, was fed up Maybe I forgot some distributions and versions... Finally, Suse 9.2 FTP DVD and Knoppix were the only systems that worked! Suse even with internet, Knoppix without, and that's no good :-) Suse threw permanently threw these error messages, see above What is the f*** failure? System works fine with Windows... Bust be something about the 'disabling irq 5' problem, see debian message. Any Kernel said 'disabling but no one cared' or something. I changed TV and Soundcard, even tried enabling onboard SNDCard on install Played with HD mode native an advanced, with acpi on-off, ect. I am sure my current configuration BIOS is perfect, should work!!! Either it is the Linux Kernel or it is the Hardware (e.g. TVCard, Network, or SATA-Controller) The amazing thing is, in Windows no irq 5 is buttigned to any device! Is this possible? To fix that 'disabling irq 5, nobody cared' problem I enabled the game port, set it to irq 5, nothing... Linux Enterprise Edition AS 3.0 3699 Unruh wrote (in part): I happen to be running RHEL 3 ES. What it is selling is the binary stuff on... I know, the hardware is relatively new, but how do I fix my problem, which distribution supports My HW, anyone the same problem? I am very disappointed about Linux. At the age of 10, I tried to set up a slakeware dis. ver 1.? on a 386, Arguing with the xconfig, never managed the graphic config ( matrox mystique support :-( ), tried misc. times and versions over the years, Now running a Suse version on an old amd athlon 700 MHz, and it is damn slow. The last 5 days, 120 hours, I tested These various versions and distributions, none worked without manual corrections, most didn't work at all. This is a damn shame for the whole Linux project. I am supposed to believe, but I can't deny what my eyes have seen. Nothing! Strange USB IRQ = 71 Anyone clue me in please Hi All. In my syslog I keep getting the following annoying message completely filling my...
