(Something to think about) Newer versions of Linux distributions like Fedora... somewhat delusional theory about how RH 6.2 got installed deleted Although RH 6.2 is installed on the machine, my theory of how I managed to do it doesn't have anything to do with reality. At some point I apparently changed SETUP to make the boot sequence CDROM,C,A, and if it had tried to boot from C, it would only have gotten as far as LI in LILO and hung. So, it must have actually booted from the CDROM and the presence of the RH 7.1 boot diskette in A had nothing to do with it. The reason it booted from the RH 6.2 installation CD, when I explicitly mentioned an earlier failure to boot the RH 6.2 installation CD, is that somewhere along the line I replaced the CDROM drive but didn't repeat all of my earlier experiments after doing so, focusing instead on just getting RH 7.1 to install. installation problems 4314 In an earlier message, I explained that attempting to upgrade from RH 7 to RH 9 had... I think this is a good illustration of my remarks, in a different thread, about how people sometimes don't realize they don't understand anything because they happen to succeed for reasons having nothing to do with what they think they are doing.
