On Sunday 02 April 2006 11:04, M stood up and spoke the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...:

knotify crash 753
M topic: "knotify" and kde "crashes" ~$ locate crashusr-lib-kde3-libcrashesplugin.lausr-lib-kde3-libcrashesplugin.sousr-share-applnk-.hidden-crashesplugin.desktopusr-share-apps-khtml-kpartplugins-crashesplugin.rcusr-share-doc-kde-HTML-en-konq...
Gnome file window keeps popping up
I have been happily using RH 7.1 on a PC that isn't connected to the internet, although I sometimes use a flash drive to carry stuff...

That's odd, because that has always worked here. You do of course have to make sure the mouse pointer changes shape, i.e. that you are at the correct screen coordinates for resizing the window.

Normally, they would keep 1024*768 or 800*600 into account, I think. Larger resolutions are getting more popular these days - I'm using 1600*1200 on a 21" display myself - but are still not mainstream, especially not with a lot of laptops.

Hmm... I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by this, but okay... ;-)

I imagine it all depends on the application and the desktop chosen, as well as the personal settings for resolution, et al. Too many variables to cover them all... ;-)

Hmm... My point actually was that reinstalling KDE won't affect your personal settings, since they are not stored systemwide but in your home directory. ;-)

Well, knotifyis something KDE-specific, so it's quite possible that the IPC (Inter-Process Communication) in XFCE doesn't speak the same dialect than in KDE, and thatknotifycrashes subsequently. ;-)
