netkittelnet compile fail. `exit' undeclared in main.cc 1782On 27 Jun 2006, in the Usenet newsgroup comp.os.linux.misc, in article You really should allow more than ten hours to give the posting time to trickle around the world. Not everyone in the world lives in the same time zone you are in. I'm located more than a third of the way around the world from you - 16 hours behind you. Why? 1. Red Hat 8.0 has been end-of-life since 2003, and totally unsupported since May 2004, over two years ago. Find a current distribution. 2. Why are you trying to compile telnet-0.17, when that is what came with Red Hat 8.0, and was never updated. Thus, telnet should be on the distribution CDs and can be installed from there.. netkittelnet compile fail. `exit' undeclared in main.cc 1783 On 29 Jun 2006, in the Usenet newsgroup comp.os.linux.misc, in article Depending on your setup, you probably will find things up inusr-src-RedHat with the tarball... compton ~$ zgrep telnet rpms.8.0-i386.gz 8.0-legacy-01.18.06.gz rpms.8.0-i386.gz:-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 52819 Sep 03 21:41 telnet-0.17-23.i386.rpm rpms.8.0-i386.gz:-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 32705 Sep 03 21:41 telnet-server-0.17-23.i386.rpm compton ~$ 3. Are you aware that Debian is not Red Hat, and that they do things in a slightly different manner? The Red Hat source package for the telnet client would be telnet-0.17-23.src.rpm, and you may be able to find that on download.fedoralegacy.org in the SRPMS directory for 8.0. It would appear that you are missing the development packages, or that the Makefile is not configured for where Red Hat hides things. Old guy
