To the OP; I just did a Debian 3.1r1 install, and I am missing 'some' things still, but I have installed some using 'apbreastude' and some using login as root)

You can also use the -s for simulation mode 'apt-get -s install Nothing actually occurs in simulation mode (a 'dry-run' so to speak). hth

iforone I have to object to the term "modulename" as used above. "Module" often has connotations of a kernel...

Q. What do we need the 'build-dep' files for? -- to build modules? Q. Do we need 'build-dep' files to use the modules-tools? Q. What do we need 'source' files for? Q. How and why would I want to do this? (just an overview will suffice ;-)) Thank you in Advance
