noauth" pppd snit with kubuntu 2660Snip...Re:etc-ppp-options config file... I'm beginning to understand this better, now that I went back and worked some more with kppp under Dapper Live-CD. It seems all I had to do after all this was to ignore the outdated warning about noauth in options, and just insist on it in options, damn the comments. Edge City, yaknow. :) The Dapper Live-CD boots up with the default user (ubuntu) in under both the dip and dialup group. Ergo, this kppp environment was almost exactly as SuSE's, except SuSE had noauth (correctly?) in options from gitgo. This is the setup I generally run under--a local (ethernet) wired LAN in which addresses are buttigned via a distributed commonetc-hosts. When I do dialups, pppd buttigns the default route on its interface. (I firewall off and deny services on the external-facing PPP interface)
OK, that makes more sense now--thanks. single or dual processor Hi all I've found cpu informationproc-cpuinfo on my Linux, as below. It seems that I have two processors... This is what I've always done with SuSE--I ran it by the network admins when I had a company dialup. They had no problem with the wired LAN, as long as I made sure I firewalled off my PPP link and offered no service on the external facing interface as well (again, PPP). I'm not sure how to proceed with Dapper--seems defaulting to no service offered, but I need to figure out its firewall scheme (Shorewall?). Re: polite replies requested... Yeah, I know. But my Score file is getting ridiculously large. :) noauth" pppd snit with kubuntu 2661 On Wed, 04 Oct 2006, in the Usenet newsgroup comp.os.linux.misc, in article No problem.
