off the subject 1829Obviously, some other newsgroup. If you can't find the right one to begin with, do you really think you can tackle the problem that you are asking about? YOu do a search via "google groups" to find where they are talking about the sort of thing you are asking, or at least the computer or whatever that you are wanting to deal with. Then you read that newsgroup for a bit to see if the newsgroup is really about what you want to ask. If not, then you do a second search and check that newsgroup. If it does seem appropriate after sufficient reading of the newsgroup, then you post your question. If you get no answer, then you repeat the search. off the subject 1830 Kid, I helped you a lot. I detailed how you do this properly. I didn't call you a bozo, I didn't simply tell you this was the wrong place... There are even newsgroups for people new to newsgroups, like yourself since you apparently do not know anything about this sort of thing, though it's been years since I've looked in them so I don't know what state they are in. Note, they aren't about asking where to ask a question, but they are about learning about the newsgroups. One can also find things with websearches, there are many fine search engines that are set up for that sort of searching, though the key is to use the right search words. Obviously you want a site that deals with your computer or whatever, but then you want to narrow that down with enough search words to find specific sites that deal with the specific thing you want to do with that computer or whatever. This sort of thing has worked for me for a decade, and the sooner you learn how to do good searches, and learn that you shouldn't ask off-topic questions in a newsgroup, the sooner you will actually get good at it all.
