For each of your parbreastions, I'd... So I came into work today an dour fileserver running Fedora Core 2 was locked up. Upon reboot, the BIOS didn't detect HD 0, and of course boot up failed. It took my having to unplug the drive and replug it in before the BIOS would "see" it. Once it started runlevel 5, it asked to do a file check since the system was shutdown improperly. Of course I let it. It got to about 90% when it then said it could not complete due to errors, and dropped me to a root prompt. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do from there. I exited and let it reboot, and it did, and seems to be running OK. So I looked invar-log-boot.log and don't see anything about that file check attempt.var-log-messages doesn't either!! Where can I find any log of that check? How can I find out what kind of errors it found? I can man fsck and see if I can run another check and all, but I'd like to see if I can find out what caused the lockup and the file check failure in the first place, and I'm just not finding any info! possible HD errors, filecheck fails, what now 912 the following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: Sounds like a hardware problem then. The CMOS battery gone bad, perhaps? Hmm... On the other hand, that would not cause the system to lock... Any direction on where I can look and what I should look for would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Liam
