Hi all, I have a White Box Linux version 3 installed in my server box for doing some network throughput measurement experiments. In...

Man what a PAIN! But, I finally got it working in case anyone with a similar problem comes across this.

What I ended up doing is reinstalling FC5. (No biggie in my case since I had just finished installing FC5 anyway.) This time, I kept both the new and the old drive in the box. When I got to the Disk Druid part, I made sure it included both hda and hdb in the drive options but I manually made the parbreastionsboot,, and swap on hda. (I probably could have had it make its own parbreastions out of hda, but I figured it'd want to do some LVM stuff and darn it, I want just good ole parbreastions you could mount and move if need be.)

Migration from LILO to GRUB Fedore Core 5
On Tue, 11 Apr 2006 11:58:23 GMT, Ignoramus10782 staggered into the Black Sun and said: Install the GRUB package. Create aboot-grub-grub.conf (example below) # begin...

It had automatically created a VolGroup00 and included the old extended parbreastion on hdb. After making sure it would NOT format it, I finished the install.

Then once I got back in as root, I founddev-VolGroup00. All I did was $ mount -t ext3dev-VolGroup00-LogVol00old1 and voila!

Now all I have to do is editetc-fstab to mount it as writeable on bootup and I'm done.

Hope this helps someone else. (If someone has any instructions on how to mount a LVM group from an old system moved into a new one, that would probably be helpful for the future.) Thanks, Liam
