problems connecting to a lan from another subnet

Do the systems on the office LAN know how to reach 172.22.1.2, or are you expecting them to follow the bread crumbs left by packets coming from that host?

No, the office LAN does not know of even the router's address of 172.22.1.1

I just checked, I can access the service of http and ssh of 172.22.1.1 ( Router ) from the development server..but I cannot go further into the office LAN

On the development server, if i ping the ofice lan, the command just hangs

# ping 192.168.10.240 PING 192.168.10.240 (192.168.10.240) 56(84) bytes of data.
