problems in linux install and hardware configuration 2317
This is vague. Initial release? Update 1? Update 2? Update 3? Specifications: ftp:--download.intel.com-design-motherbd-nt-D14068 plus 101US.pdf Looking for benchmark test tool 2321 dbone I used to work on the Bell Labs optimizer for the C compiler. Our marketing department gave us a bunch of about a... Unit has: Intel 82945G north bridge Video is either integrated Intel GMA950 chip or any add-in PCI-Express x 16 video card. Intel 82801G "ICH7" south bridge. SATA is 82801GR (ICH7-R) with optional fakeraid support. OK, first of all, you should go out and get RHEL4 Update 3 ("RHEL4 U3"), since you're trying to install RHEL4 on cutting-edge hardware. If you don't want to pay for that, download CentOS 4.3, which is a publicly redistributable recompile of RHEL4 U3. Second, go into your motherboard BIOS Setup, and see if you can find a setting to switch the ICH7-R chip from standard into "Legacy" or "Compatibility" mode. What does that do? Well, ICH7 or ICH6 chips default to what's called "ahci" addressing mode (the standard setting), which is better in theory than the backwards-compatibility setting in which the chip emulates an ICH5. However, the latter enables use of the Linux kernel's older, better established "atapiix" driver, rather than the very new "ahci" one. RHEL4 U3 or CentOS 4.3 should be able to see your SATA chipset (and thus the attached hard drive), unlike whatever ancient RHEL4 release you're attempting to use, especially if you make that BIOS Setup change. (If you can't find that setting, try RHEL4 U3 CentOS 4.3 anyway; the "ahci" driver might work. That's also your problem with the ethernet ports: You don't have recent enough e100 and e1000 ports. By the way, did you try both of your eternet ports? problems in linux install and hardware configuration 2318 I cannot solve your problem since I am seeing a similar problem on this motherboard. The symptoms: 1. I am running a 2.6.13.2 kernel with all SATA drivers compiled in as modules. 2. The... And that's also probably your problem with sound. This is a consequence of your SATA driver problem, and is not a separate issue. -- Cheers, Your eyes are weary from staring at the CRT. You feel Rick Moen sleepy. Notice how restful it is to watch the cursor yours. You cannot imagine why you ever felt otherwise.
