I cannot solve your problem since I am seeing a similar problem on this motherboard. The symptoms: 1. I am running a 2.6.13.2 kernel with all SATA drivers compiled in as modules. 2. The system BIOS correctly recognizes the SATA interface and the drive that is attached. 3. I boot the kernel from an boot cd. (This same CD is used to boot many other sata based systems and the kernel has detected the controller and installed the correct drivers in those cases) 4. The system fails to see the SATA drive-interface (checkingproc-scsi-scsi reveals no devices detected) I have manually loaded every SATA module in the kernel-drivers-scsi directory and none of them show any signs of working. Checking the dmesg output shows that the scsi system was initialized, but no devices are ever shown there either.

It is possible that a BIOS update could fix this, I am lending buttistance to our IT support to investigate the problem, so I do not have direct access to the system for more information.

Checking the output of lspci shows that many of the devices on the MB do not appear to be recognized.
