regarding unix specific commands 7355fidlee Well, the program is kind of boring, and I would not use that indenting style. If you change the printf to: printf("Process id is %un",pid); ^ it will be a little more interesting. It returns an exit code of 025, that I did not trouble to look up. Probably because you left out exit(0) regarding unix specific commands 7356 Let me inject something here that needs to be said *before* you get too far out on a limb and end up cussing Linux because you... at the end, but it works just fine in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 ES. can't read superblock on a xfs parbreastion This is strange. If xfsgrowfs does not check the type of the specified file, it will try to operate on the file... I never heard of that book, but it might be OK. Doubless other people will recommend other books. I do not write in C anymore, preferring C++, and have only the Second Edition of "The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie (Prentice Hall). For C++, I like "C++ Primer" (Third Edition) by Lippman and Lajoie as a text, "The Annotated C++ Reference Manual" by Peggy Ellis and Bjarne Stroustrup as a reference, and "The C++ Standard Library" by Josuttis for the libraries. This last one is pretty dry reading, and I would urge you not to start with it, but with the Lippman and Lajoie book if you want to learn C++. -- .~. Jean-David Beyer Registered Linux User 85642.
