NoName More than 10 degrees above what? Well, if Maxtor drives (both SCSI and IDE) are...

I got 2 seagate from different series.. I noted there was a slight increase in the temperature that those hard disk could stand recently, like 10 more degrees. I think that was something like 50 to 60 degrees C. I had notice the failures were erratic, and usually occurred after some use of my computer, but nearly never while it did stop for a night for example. Than i waited for a new box with 3 fans and 1, 12 inches fan for the disks, and since then, those Errors mentioned on the first post, never appeared again. And the computer is running night and day. I can't tell about your system. They could also be broken or air cooling doesn't work well. I don't know. In my case, it worked, and i was pretty much happy not to have to buy a new hard disk. At least if you get errors as soon as you start your computer after a long break, you may .. well i would think it might either because there is something broken or air cooling may have already damaged something. But there is surely something damaged. If not, than something may happen after some time, the system is running, and usually overall temperature has raised. I can't tell about your system. I would say SCSI disks tend to be high speed system. If you have plenty of hard disk, like you mentioned, they may be kind of glued together. All of this may not be very good condition to cool your disks, but maybe part of them. Don't know, figure out ;-)
