using X with dual monitors... 3881misc question. Sun and said: That shouldn't be happening. What's the wattage on your machine's power supply? Next time, snip it so only the relevant bits are included. snip using X with dual monitors... 3882 There is certainly *something* significant happening that is not just a simple configuration problem! One thing of note... I once tried... ITYM "dpms". Speling counts when dealing with comptuers. Also, those Hsync and Vsync ranges look a bit narrow, and they may prevent you from using Modes other than the LCD's native resolution. No worries if you don't want to do that, but sometimes it's nice to drop back to 640x480 for things like snes9x-xmame-fce-ultra. This should probably use the r128 module, not ati. The ati module should see the r128 chipset and load r128, but it's usually better to do it right the first time. This BusID looks a little strange. Well, if lspci confirms that it's right, no worries.
What'svar-log-Xorg.0.log say? Try starting X with that config again, after it fails, go look at that file and see what the problem is. You want to do something like "grep -3 'EE-WW' " on that file and post the results that are relevant and-or look weird. I think you need Xinerama to do that. Go Google that; there's also a Xinerama HOWTO on tldp.org . I have never done this, because all my Linux machines are headless or single-monitor, but if I were stuck with a 1024x768 screen, I'd consider it.
