There is certainly *something* significant happening that is not just a simple configuration problem!

One thing of note... I once tried very hard to figure out how to get an old Dell motherboard with a built in rage128 video to work with another video card (which just happened to be a S3 Virge card)... and it just was *not* going to happen. The BIOS would not initialize the rage128 if it found another video card. So that box ended up with *three* video systems...

He didn't know what was and what wasn't...

Linux : 32 bit only what is the trick
Hi, Linux is 32 bit OS and 32 bit only. I ran across this statement today. Although it also says that there are some project going on to port Linux to 16 bit processor, pretty...

Heres one from a working system. The identifiers of course can all be different, but the Xinerama option is necessary. However, not having it is not causing what is happening...

I just inherited one of these drives and about 50 of the tapes. I can't seem to get the damn thing to work though. I got the osst driver loaded and...

# The Matrox driver documention lists other layouts Screen "Screen1" Screen "Screen0" RightOf "Screen1"

#Xinerama mode joins the screens into one desktop. Option "Xinerama"

InputDevice "Mouse1" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard1" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection

Don't even bother restarting it! Just go look at what the last attempt generated. Suck the log file up in an editor and carefully read it. Lots of stuff won't make any sense at all, but some of it will be very informative. Most likely the part of most interest will be right at the end... were it says why it failed.

If necessary, post the whole thing here... huge as it is. (Try to edit out stuff that is obviously repebreastive.)

But clearly that isn't true. The real trick does not depend on whether a cpu is...

Actually whats fun is one desktop, sharing both monitors as if it was just one big monitor. The mouse and the program windows can move from one to the other.

At 1024x768 it is purely torture not to have dual monitors. But with 19" LCD's using 1280x1024, dual monitors are a true delight! I put all of the "sticky" clutter" like xload, a clock, sysmon, xmms, xcalc, my virtual desktop manager, and a small xterm logged into my firewall onto the right hand screen. I use the left hand screen for most of my actual work, unless I want two edit windows or something like that lined up horizontally.

If I could afford two LCD twice as large with twice the resolution, I'd do it.
